What is the MAC?
The Member Action Center (knows as the MAC) is a central place
for members to call if they have questions on contracts, events,
grievances, contract negotiations, meetings and for advice on issues or
answers to questions.
Who IS the MAC?
Brenda Hilbrich, Director, Stacey Davis, Steve Sitta, Debby
Nelson, Tara Wangen and David Leonard are who members will speak with
when they call.
When did it open?
SEIU debuted the MAC in September 2008 and slowly introduced it until it became fully operational on Oct. 6, 2008.
Why did it open? SEIU Healthcare
Minnesota opened the MAC in order to respond to members’ questions and
concerns quickly and efficiently. The majority of calls made to
Internal Organizers were questions that could be answered right away if
the information was in front of us, but too often members and staff
ended up playing phone tag. The Member Action Center eliminates the
phone tag because the most of the information we need to answer
questions is readily available in searchable databases. The MAC is a
critical part of achieving the vision of the local. With phone calls
and individual grievances handled by the MAC, the Internal Organizers
in the field have greater opportunities to work with member leaders,
develop our political program and increase member engagement in the
Union.
