Bargaining Update – March 30, 2021

Today was our 5th bargaining session with Mayo Saint Marys Hospital. While we continue to work on our proposals so we can keep negotiations moving, we are still far apart on economic issues, including wage increases.

We continue to modify our proposals and are holding on our proposals for Essential Worker language, Violence in the Workplace language, a pension increase, better training for new employees with incentives for trainers, and across the board wage increases. We reached a tentative agreement on bulletin board access and are close on bereavement leave improvements. The Employer has withdrawn some proposals and made small moves on wage increases.

We will continue to remind the Employer that we matter. We will continue to remind the Employer that we deserve to be safer at work. We will continue to remind the Employer that we deserve to be better compensated for the specialty work we do to provide for a good experience for the patients who come to the #1 Hospital in the nation for their care. Mayo cannot remain #1 in the nation without all of us!

Our next bargaining session is Tuesday, April 6th. A Federal Mediator will be facilitating our next bargaining session. Please show your support for your bargaining team by wearing your SEIU name badge reels and buttons. If you are in need of a button or name badge reel, please reach out to a member of the Bargaining Team and we will make sure you get them. Let’s stand united and in solidarity because, When We Fight, We Win!

Bargaining Update – March 18, 2021

March 18, 2021 was our 3rd bargaining session with Mayo Saint Marys Hospital. We spent time discussing the Surgical Services Addendum and some of the proposals we care most about. We continue to work on  our proposals so we can keep negotiations moving. We were also provided with a Pension Presentation so our bargaining team can better understand our pension and the differences between our plan and the non-union plans.

While we have adjusted several of our proposals, we are holding on our proposals for: Essential Worker language, Better Health and Safety, bulletin board access, overtime and across the board wage increases. The Employer has withdrawn their proposals for changes to the work week and has made a slight move on wages but still want to take away all double time pay when you are required to work.

Our next bargaining session is Thursday, March 25th . Please show your support for your bargaining team by wearing your SEIU name badge reels and buttons. If you are in need of a button or name badge reel, please reach out to a member of the Bargaining Team and we will make sure we get them. Let’s stand united and in solidarity because, When We Fight, We Win!
