Bargaining Updates

Bargaining Update:  June 17, Session #3
Today was our 3rd bargaining session.  We began the day with the employer making proposals on Insurance and disability benefits and on scheduling.   We offered couple of counter proposals around some of the outstanding non-economic proposals in a effort to reach agreements on them and to move towards bargaining all things economics.

Later in the day, the employer responded to all our economic proposals.  We were met with huge disappointment when employer only offered a 2%, 2%, 2% and a “No” on all other economic proposals.

We have one more session scheduled on Tuesday, June 23.   Our contract expires on June 30.   We asked the employer for more bargaining dates between the next session and June 30.

Please continue to wear your purple buttons to work every day.  To get the best contract we deserve, we need to show the employer that we are united.

If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to us.

In solidarity,
Your bargaining team

Bargaining Update:  June 15, Session #2
Today was our 2nd bargaining session.   We started the day early, reviewing and discussing the employer’s entire proposal and worked on our counter proposal which we presented to them in the morning.   We reached Tentative Agreements on a number of articles, some that were standard housekeeping items and some both parties agreed to keep in our contract, including several Letter of Understandings (LOUs).  We also sought questions around their proposals around amending the Validation of Certification language and Multi-Modality qualification description under Appendix A.    The employer then made a counter-standalone proposal around Validation of Certification language and involuntary low need language.   In response to their movement on Validation of Certification language, we made a counter-standalone proposal around agreeing to the Validation of Certification language in exchange for the employer agreeing to our proposal on a separate involuntarily process for CVDS only – a rotation in seniority order process.  In the last two sessions, we have cleared up much of the non-economic languages and articles.   We hope to engage with the employer on our economic proposals at our next session on Wednesday, June 17.

We will be distributing purple buttons.  Please wear them to work every day.  The employer needs to know that we are all united in this fight for a fair contract.

In solidarity,
Your bargaining team

Bargaining Update:  June 8, Session # 1
We had our first bargaining session today at Abbott.  We spent the morning reviewing and fine-tuning our proposals that we had previously worked on in two separate team meetings.   We then shared our full proposal with the employer.   The employer presented us their proposal, the entire contract merging the two groups that are bargaining together this time – the Abbott Techs/Sonographers and the Abbott Therapy Assistants.   We spent the latter half of the evening reviewing their proposal, and as the day ended, we decided to review the rest of their proposal between now and our next session on June 15.
