SEIU Healthcare Minnesota & Iowa President Jamie Gulley and Leadership Team Re-Elected

November 3, 2022

Leaders voted to another three-year term to lead Union of nearly 50,000 healthcare workers

Saint Paul – President Jamie Gulley and four Executive Vice Presidents were re-elected to their roles as leaders of SEIU Healthcare Minnesota & Iowa by the Union's membership. The union represents nearly 50,000 healthcare and long-term care workers in hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, and home care throughout Minnesota, Iowa and neighboring states.

In the last year alone, the local has added over 1,500 new members, including high profile wins in the mental health field and at Planned Parenthood North Central States, which covers workers over a five-state region. The Union recently won a historic first contract for mental health workers at MHealth Fairview, huge wage increases for food service workers who work for Morrison at Mayo Clinics and big gains for nursing home workers from Robbinsdale to Crosby.

After leading the Union through the challenges of COVID and seeing a huge growth in membership over the last year, SEIU Healthcare Minnesota & Iowa President Jamie Gulley shared his excitement to be leading the union for another term:

“Our whole team is incredibly proud to have the trust of the healthcare workers who make up our local. We have always known how amazing and essential their work has been, and that became even more clear during the pandemic. Our leadership team is committed to standing up to corporate healthcare greed, winning strong contracts and bringing new members into our union to help build power for healthcare workers in our state and region. We're ready to continue our work living out our Union's motto: 'When We Fight, We Win!'"

Elected alongside Gulley were Executive Vice Presidents Jigme Ugen, Brenda Hilbrich, Phillip Cryan and Rasha Ahmad Sharif. The group were re-elected unanimously after running unopposed in the current election.
